Pyramid 2020.02 (Service Pack 2) Released
Service Pack 2 for Pyramid 2020 - 2020.02 - has been released and includes over 40 new features with numerous fixes.
Separately, a new version of the BI Office Converter was released (1.1.4.5) that is compatible with Pyramid 2020.02 for upgrading old BI Office content Pyramid 2020.
Software
- The installer files can be downloaded from the Pyramid Customer Portal.
- The Android mobile app was recently updated.
- An update of the iOS mobile app will be available within the next few days.

New Features in 2020.02
Discover
- Major upgrade to the forecasting tools (video):
- Forecast prediction bands are now visible in line charts
- New ability to add the ‘historical look back’ to a forecast
- New ability to add custom forecasting logic using Python or R in addition to the algorithms provided by Pyramid out of the box.
- Sample forecast logic sets with Python and R added to the marketplace
- Visualization upgrades:
- Major upgrade to matrix grid visualization with new deep formatting options (video):
- Ability to customize row, columns and data beyond the theme settings
- Ability to customize formats of specific rows or columns
- New waterfall chart settings and upgrade (video):
- Ability to designate “end” value logic type and color
- Ability to select the waterfall mechanism: absolute or differential logic
- X-Axis label settings and upgrade:
- Ability to set specific x-axis label area size
- Ability to set x-axis label orientation
- New line chart tool-tip (“Category tool-tip”) to make the visibility of data points in a line or area chart clearer.

- Major upgrade to matrix grid visualization with new deep formatting options (video):
- New run-time settings for Discover content launched in embedded or direct mode (via URL) - allows the customization of the context menu options.
- ‘Analyze Further’ capability added to Discover content launched in direct mode (via URL).
- Slicer styling allows customization of the way a slicer looks with new options slicer titles, foreground and background colors (video).
- New context menu options for turning on Row or Column totals.
- Added support for multilingual metadata on SAP HANA.
Present
- Slide sections can now be collapsed and expanded
- Warning messages on visual can now be suppressed (from run-time settings menu)
- ‘Analyze Further’ capability added to Present content launched in direct mode (via URL).
- New custom canvas size for presentations: allowing the fixed layout presentation to be custom sized. This is particularly useful for embedded content scenarios.
- New snapshot button to trigger an update in slide snapshots for the content manager.
- Slicer styling allows customization of the way a slicer looks with new options slicer titles, foreground and background colors (video).
Publish
- Warning messages on visual can now be suppressed

Data Model
- Major update to the Pulse server, allowing all supported data sources to be used in all data flow (ETL) operations as well as direct query.

- Upgrade in the PQL function editor for custom calculations
- New ability to preview table data directly from the table schema interface in modeling.
- New ability to designate if SAP HANA hierarchies will be treated as ‘drill path’ or regular ‘drill-down’ hierarchies (set in the admin).
Formulate
- New ability to set dynamic captions for custom measures and members (elements). Currently only for MDX sources. PQL sources will be added in near future (video).
- New interface to add derivative selection logic from element trees.
Content Management
- Links sent out in commentary emails now provide a direct link to the conversation thread.
- New Presentation launcher interface from the content manager for both viewers and pro users - allowing users to launch the presentation dashboard with a specific slide.
Administration
- New authentication time-out options for client token vs embedded tokens vs mobile tokens.
- New ability to turn collaboration data snapshots on or off.
- New ability to designate if SAP HANA hierarchies will be treated as ‘drill path’ or regular ‘drill-down’ hierarchies (set in the admin).
- Upgrade in the PQL function editor for scripted security ( video).
APIs and Functions
- 10 new advanced PQL functions have been added; covering dynamic text and info-graphics including forecasting and outliers.
- 6 new REST API methods for retrieving user content structures.
- Upgrade in many ‘task’ API’s to allow non-administrative access to API methods.
Documentation
- Online help has been updated with an upgraded function library reference for both PQL and MDX.
- Several new tutorial videos have been added to online help.
Cautions
2020.02 includes upgrades to existing capabilities. As such, Pyramid strongly recommends that the new version be tested on existing content before any production upgrades are applied. The area most affected is forecasting. Attention should be given to those reports with forecasting.
