New Pyramid Release Framework

Starting in Q4-2024, Pyramid Analytics will offer a new software release framework, providing a choice between ‘Long Term Support’ and ‘Feature Version Support’ releases. We are delighted to be able to offer additional options in our release approach to give customers a wider scope for how to deploy Pyramid.

Long Term Support (LTS) is a product lifecycle management policy in which a stable release of computer software is maintained for a longer period than the standard ‘feature’ edition.

Feature Version Support (FVS) is a term that describes the software's standard or ‘feature’ edition. FVS software has a comparatively short life cycle and includes new, cutting-edge features.

Pyramid will therefore offer two version tracks in its new release framework:

  • LTS: Delivered every EVEN year. It is supported for 2.5 years; does NOT include new features; and will only include critical security fixes.
  • FVS: Delivered every ODD year with both features and all on-going fixes (service packs “SP”).

This approach allows customers to choose how they wish to implement Pyramid: a stable, unchanging version for 2.5 years or the shorter lifecycle version which incorporates the latest features and enhancements. Importantly, customers can always switch between tracks provided they always switch to a later release.

New Pyramid Releases

Pyramid 2023 will reach end of standard support in Q4-2024, with extended support for key bugs and its ‘end of life’ by the Summer of 2025.

Pyramid 2024 LTS, code named “Fibonacci,” is due for release in Q4-2024. This version will provide the off-ramp for customers wanting to use the LTS track from Pyramid 2023 “Archimedes”.

Pyramid 2025, code named “Newton,” is due for release in Q1-2025, providing the alternative ‘feature version’ off-ramp from Pyramid 2023.
