Discovery Data Catalog Export
Is it possible to export the data catalog from a discovery object in a format which is not .pdf?
I see I can export the data catalog from a data model object as a json file, which allows me to analyze in more detail.
You can import/export the definitional aspects from the admin. The Data Catalog export in Discovery is for end users - who typically would not want to use a JSON file.
Avi Perez Actually, I may have communicated the original question poorly. Or, more likely as I'm still learning, I might be missing something. What I'm trying to find out...are the 'instructions' for generating a discovery (e.g. a json file) available.
My actual context is: if a model has multiple tables and in two different tables there exist a column in each with the same name, can I identify from the discovery object which table in the model that column originates from?
Discover objects are not available as JSON exports.
Hope that helps.
You can use the Pyramid usage model that will allow you to create a discovery with all the required columns.
Instructions on how to implement the model can be found here Pyramid Usage Model and Analysis - Tech Blogs - Pyramid Analytics Community Forum
In this example I have used the item name, the column type and the column unique name (this will display both the table and the column name.) You can then export the results to excel if required.
If you want to know what table a column is coming from, one option is to open a custom member / measure in script mode and drag the column into it.
The table name should be visible as a part of the unique name of the column.
It would be useful to have a popup or something similar that shows the unique name when hovering over the column
