Using SQL queries to build reports

Hello,

Is there a way to use SQL queries to build the reports themselves? Forgive my unfamiliarness with Pyramid, but I only see the option to query using SQL when creating a data model. Is there a way to build the reports using SQL queries?

    Hi Laura,

Only indirectly through Model as you have observed. However, there is a shortcut here, whereby you can create a quick direct query model based on a custom SQL query when you open Discover.

Open Discover and click on the data source icon, then choose the data source you want to work with. Click on the Add database button:

Choose the database you want to work with, then click on the Custom Query button:

Type in your SQL, test, preview and then Add the new table:

Edit any column or table properties you require then Finish

This will generate a direct query model based on your SQL query and open discover for you to make your query selections:

    Hope that helps.

    Hi Ian,

Thank you for the response. It appears this does not work if the source is an ODBC. Is there a way to convert this into a source that is valid for this method?

    Thanks,

    Laura
