If you only have one slide, and do not require the slider, there is a way to hide it. On the content or cover view, reduce the size of the slider to as small as possible, then move the whole object to a part of the screen that's not being used. Not sure, but I think you can then, on your slide cover it with another object, by brining that object to front. This effectively hides the slider control.
