Suppression of Columns when Column is Filled with dynamic parent
We have a challenge that we cannot solve at the moment. THe data source is a Anlysis Services Cube.
We have a parameter based on a Organization Hierarchy. The report should show dynamically the respective parent of the selected member.
So far so good ... thats working.
Now we only want one column for the dynamically shown parent. We can of course take the columns out but its only possible for the currently selected member.
Is there any way to hide the rest of the columns but keeping the dynamic selection of the parent that it looks like this?

Switch the dynamic parent to a custom member formula that derives its values off the child parameter and its parent. Then the grid won't change, while its values will.

Hi Andre,
With the above from NPANS, you can also use the Dynamic Caption feature to set the Column Header of your custom member to the name of the parameter parent:
Note: You will also need to create a Product List of the Custom Member and the Parameter, ordered by selection, and use that on the columns to get the correct order. If you try to use the Custom Element Ordering option you will find that the custom column disappears when you change the parameter. This is because the custom element order is based on the member caption and that changes dynamically with the parameter, so when you change the parameter, the ordered caption no longer exists because it has changed from Bikes to Clothing in the above example.
Hope that helps!
