API for Testing In-Memory Data Source Connection

Is there an API available that tests the connection to the in-memory data source and sends an alert if the connection fails?

Create a simple Discover report against the relevant data source. Then use the analytics APIs to open ("extract") that report. If you get a result - it's working. Otherwise, it's not.
