Excel as Target in a Model

I'm exploring the various model targets to see what they do.  It looks as if an Excel target can be used to output the data coming through the data flow -- is that the intention?  I tried adding an Excel target to an existing model that is already using a In Memory target -- I was able to connect all of the existing items in the data flow to the Excel target as well as the In Memory target.  When I tried to validate the data flow, however, I get an error stating "Property Unc Path on Excel Target is not a valid shared path".  I have the Excel target defined as follows:

Database Name:  Northwind_Data.xlsx

Shared Folder Path:  \\<servername>\<sharename>\<foldername>

Those are the only two properties for an Excel target.  Am I specifying them correctly?  How can I troubleshoot that error (as an Enterprise Admin, I don't see anything in the System log related to the failed validation...)

    Hi Dave F.,

When you click on validate, the RTE try to access to the share-folder that you provide.

If the user that run the RTE doesn't have write access to that share-folder, you will get a error message - "Property Unc Path on Excel Target is not a valid shared path".

Can you please verify that the RTE user has access to that share folder?

    Thanks,

    Shai Ben Ami.
