Cascading slicers as multiple tree selection

Hello everyone,

We have a dashboard with a slicer for cost centres. The sales organisation should cascade on this so that only the cost centres of the selected sales organisation are shown.

We have currently incorporated the cost centres as a drop-down slicer. However, this is not ideal, as there are several levels in the selection that are not easily visible to the user without the hierarchy being displayed.

If I change the type of slicer to a multiple tree selection, the box (marked in red) where I can tick the cascade option disappears. Why is that?

As always: thank you for your help!
Jona

    Hi Jona,

Unfortunately, the app does not support Tree Slicers (multi or single select) as a cascade destination.
The reason is because the tree slice is designed to show the entire attribute regardless of it's underlying selection/element structure. This is also true for the "Calendar" slice.

Your best bet is to use a multi select drop down slice.

Let me know if you have further questions,

    Ez

Is the cost center a parent child hierarchy or a regular hierarchy?

If it's parent child there really is no way around it.

However, if it's a regular hierarchy it can be replaced with cascading filters between the different columns - I hope this makes sense.

    Let us know,

    Moshe
