Totals of sets

Hi,

It seems that we are not able to show totals whenever we make sets. In the attached example you will see it shows totals from the data that are directly coming from the dimension (black arrow) whereas it ignores the data shown from sets (higlighted yellow).

Is there another way to show totals from sets?

    Hi Maaike,

I can't seem to reproduce your issue.

I created sets of members, then an aggregate of the set, combined it with an existing member and added totals. As you can see, the totals are correct and it doesn't ignore the calculated set totals:

I see you are using SSAS, is that OLAP or TABULAR? My example is OLAP.

    Regards,

    Ian

Ian Macdonald Hi Ian, thanks for your quick reply, ours is tabular, might that be causing issues?

    Hi Maaike,

Ah. Yes, it is a limitation in SSAS Tabular in that it sometimes chokes on creating totals that include calculated members that are totalled using the AGGREGATE function. We're not entirely sure in what circumstances this occurs and what the rules are and unfortunately MS seem reluctant to help us...

You may be able to work around it though by changing some of the Totalling options. Here's a similar View against Tabular that is totalling the calculated members:

To get this to work, you need to set the Rows and Columns options using the menu selections above and set the totalling to SUM rather than AGGREGATE and check the "include calculated members" option:

Let me know if that helps.

Ian Macdonald Thank you, this seems to solve it for now!

However it looks slightly different and we have to tick a few different boxes in order for it to work:
