CSV File Export - Scientific Format

Hi

We're exporting queries/pyramid content to S3 (as csv file, via Model) and the measures are always coming out in scientific format (E-).

Even when we define the column as Float (directly or by column operation) or reduce the number of digits after the dot - it would still look OK in preview, but become scientific in CSV.

Is there a workaround for this?

Thanks

    Hi Yakov,

I can't reproduce your problem. In my tests the numbers always come out as I see them in preview when output to CSV. I've tried Float, Double and Decimal (38.2) types and all resolve to standard numbers in the CSV.

I am saving the CSV into a standard Windows directory, rather than into an S3 bucket, so I'm wondering if S3 is playing a part in this. I don't have an S3 target to save into at the moment, but will try it when I do.

Meanwhile, can you try writing the CSV file to a standard directory,  look at the numbers in a text editor, then load it into S3, then open it and see if the numbers are changed to scientific format?

    Thanks,

    Ian

    Hi Yakov,

I've found an S3 resource and written a CSV file to it and when reading it out again, my numbers are normal, not scientific notation.

Can you share the model data flow that you are using?

It's probably better for you to open a support ticket for this so we can track it properly.

    Hope that helps.

    Ian
