How to add text in the header or footer of a publication?

I would like to add header and footer text to my publications.  Is there a way to include titles and page numbers?

Technically, Publisher does not have classic headers and footers.  Instead, the "master page" is specifically designed to provide header and footer capability - but with a much a broader range of options and capabilities - such that you can set components on the entire page, not just headers and footers.  So you can set aside space at the top of the page and bottom of the page, including separating lines.

In the example below, I added a separator line, an image, and some text for my "header" in the Content master page.

I then added a separator line and a text box at the bottom of the master page.  The page number and total pages are available as Text Fields.

The master page concept is based on more advanced layout tools and design applications, where people need to create layout concepts of various things that go well beyond simple headers and footers.

In effect, you can create entire page designs for the cover and general content pages, which can include panels for things you'd want to see at the top - headers, and things you'd want to see at the bottom - footers.

Lastly, make use of the "guides" and rulers to help you position your items in the layout accurately.
