Overlaying columns/bars with integrated variances (IBCS)

Dear Community,

the following picture is taken from the IBCS v1.1 (2017).

Is there a chance to create something like that with Pyramid? At least something that comes close to it?

Base is a multidimensional SSAS Cube with a dimension called datatype with elements like "Actual" (AC) "Budget", "Previous Year" (PY) and the according deltas.

I thought about a stacked column chart, but the challenge then is, that it should be possible to dynamically stack two figures. If the variance is negative, then you should stack the absolute value of the variance on top of the Actual, if it's positive it should be stacked on top of the PY. Of course, I would be able to prepare that in the cube respectively in the DWH, but how can I show then negative variances as negative values as data labels (which would also be necessary for the conditional colours).

Any idea?

Is there perhaps a third party tool like Zebra BI for Power BI?

Thanks alot in advance.

Kind regards
Markus

    Hi Markus,
I am just a Pyramid user who tries to build IBCS Dashboards but.. as far as I know there is no solution even no one that comes close to it.

You can only show different categories next to each other by having a variable that has the attributes "actual", "last year", "last month",... whatever you want and put this as bars next to each other.
Otherwise, there is no solution as far as I know.

    Hi Markus,

You can always create your own custom Chart using the Pyramid APIs and a suitable JavaScript program. The Pyramid charting engine is based on the D3 libraries so you can use examples from there as a starting point.

See the Help Pages on Custom Visual APIs for more information.

    Hope that helps.
