Measures/Dimensions caption translation

Hi all, I have this issue: I work for an italian company and all our database objects captions are in italian. I would like to translate the labels in english since we now have an USA company branch. We have SQLServer OLAP cubes but since we don't run the Enterprise version I cannot publish the translations. I know in Pyramid there is a customer overlay property on hiearchies but I'm not able to apply it for USA role only. Did anyone face the same problem? Thank you

    Hi Sergio,

Can you explain a little more on why you cannot apply the English names in the meta data overlay to the USA role?

    Thanks,

    Ian

Hello Ian, as a workaround I translate the dimension/measure labels for report. The problem is I cannot choose a role when I try to modify the metadata per role and I have to duplicate the formulate measures so I can change the label.

I just want to add the measures translation is not seen in filters when I set a filter on measures. Filters shows the orginal metadata.

      Hi Sergio,

I have no problem doing this using 2020.20.

Create Role, Italian, add that Role to the model settings, make user a member of that Role, set Net Margin to be Margine netto for that role and all flows through as it should, including filter headings.

What version are you running? Is it the Community, Standard or Enterprise Edition?

      Hope that helps.

    Hi Sergio,

Just noticed you're using OLAP cubes. I retested and it works exactly the same for OLAP. Do make sure though that you have checked the "Use Security and Metadata overlays" option on the Data Card:

    Hope that helps.

It also shows up when use the Values Chip in the filter Drop Zone:
