How to create a report without live connection?

Hi

We are looking at creating some reports (in publish) that we would only want to refresh once a week.

In this way we are trying to find a way to create some type of saved report that would save the results for the same week (in-memory or on our server) and would not run the query against the database each time the customer opens it.

What we are searching for is close to what Tableu call live connection/extract function.

Is it a way to do it in Pyramid?

Thanks

  • Hi Yakov,

I believe that the only way to do this is running the data model into the In Memory Database (IMDB). The data in the report would only update once the data model has been processed each week.

Please let me know if you do find another way to achieve this?

    Thanks,
    Natalie

  • Hi Natalie

We are trying the in-memory route as well, didn't find a better solution.

Of course, if we find anything we will give you an update.

    Thanks!

    Hi Yakov,

Why not just schedule the Publish report for weekly execution and post the output to the bulletin board? Users can then simply view / download it off the bulletin board when they need to.

Unless I have completely misunderstood your question.

  • Hi Ian

You refer to reports that can be downloaded (pdf/ppt).

I was talking about the data that would be the base for dashboards. The data itself is going to be updated only once a week, so was wandering if we have an efficient way for this.

I think IMDB might be the answer.
