Remove expand icon of hierarchy within a matrix

Hello all, 

I would like to remove the expand icon in a matrix from one specific hierarchy. 
Do you have any idea how to solve this? 

I want to remove the expand or "+" icon from the product hierarchy. 

 

(FYI: I do not want to create a new column just with this one information - I would like to get a solution based on the hierarchy.)

    You can turn all expand icons on or off. There is no option to customize it by hierarchy. One work around is to use a flattened hierarchy or attribute instead - which does not have a multi-level structure. But it sounds like you already know that.
