How to save the Analysis measures.

Hi,

I have calculated some measures by using Analysis like Forecast, Regression, Statistics so on.

I couldn't able to share(right click -Mark shareable option) the measures. we can access those measures by clicking on the Business Logic (Fx) button whenever we need it.

Please let me know how and why it is not shareable. Give me some suggestions on this.

    Hi Siva,

    The reason you cannot share these calculations is because they are "Context" calculations, i.e. they are calculated within the scope of the query results. Thus they only apply to the data output from that specific query.

    For you to be able to share calculations they need to be Semantic calculations, i.e. calculations defined in the context of the semantic model.

    There are a whole bunch of statistical functions available in Formulate to create analogous shareable semantic calculations.

      Hi Ian Macdonald 

      Is it possible to create your own context formulas in any way? There is a good selection of pre-made ones, but sometimes I have to create formulas on other measures before doing the context calc (as you can't do other context calcs with a context calc), where it would be neater if you could modify the context calc itselt.

      Say something simple as subtracting 1000 from a cumulative total. You'd have to create a formula that has original measure + 1000, but only for one member. That means using if statement and currentmember. This just slows things down an awful lot.

      Not currently. The idea behind context calculations is that they are quick and easy, but limited  in scope to the current query. If you want more sophisticated calculations, or calculations derived from other calculations, then Formulate with Semantic calculations is the way to go.

      Hi @siva sankar,

      The only way I know to access the Forecast Values is via Dynamic Text in Present and Publish. 

      It is not accessible in Formulate for the reason I specified above.
