Old publications cannot be found/viewed after an upgrade from v5 to v6

When upgrading BI Office from v5 to v6, a new publication shared folder is created

\\<PyramidPublicationServername>\Publishing6

However, the application does not update the publishing folder.

As a result the following error will appear while running a publication:

Below are the steps to update the new publication folder:

  1. Open the admin console and navigate to the Settings Tab --> Publishing settings
  2.  Browse the Directory
  3. Configure the new Publishing6 folder as in the screenshot below:

In addition, the old publications will stay in the old folder.

They can be moved to the new folder to allow  users to view them.

The old folder usually located under:

C:\Program Files\Pyramid Analytics\BI Office 5\publishing

  • We followed this step after upgrading from v5 to v6, and we are able to publish under the new Publishing6 directory, but publications from v5 aren't accessible from "C:\Program Files\Pyramid Analytics\BI Office 5\publishing" or after copying to the new publishing folder in "C:\Program Files\Pyramid Analytics\BI Office 6\publishing"

It looks like the publish_tbl.Output table contains a path value that still references "Publishing5" on the server.

If it's changed to "Publishing6" AND the files are copied to the new  folder, then the files are retrievable once again.

  • Hi Eric,

You're correct. Changing the file path in the DB is another step needed.

A simpler solution is to make "Publishing5" a shared folder again.
That would retain accessibility to "old" v5 content and allow new content to be added.

    Thanks for adding that info.
